On This Veterans Day, Let us remember the sacrifices of those who wrote their individual lives off for the good of this country. Throughout his life my father has worn many hat; son, brother, husband, dad (my personal favorite), policeman, constable, fireman, and politician just to name a few. My favorite to use against the middle school bullies however was Marine. “My dad can beat up your dad” was typical talk in my 6 th grade classroom. When we think of the U.S. Armed forces we have an almost romantic view of what it means. Men in uniform leaving on ships, bags in hand leaving behind wives and young children; then returning months later to come and sweep them off of their feet. Sadly, this is not the case for most. Millions of men and women come back from war with Traumatic Brain Injuries (TBI’s) and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).
